The National Speakers Association (NSA) was established to support professional speakers by providing resources, education, and networking opportunities to help them grow their businesses and impact audiences effectively. The NSA’s 8 competencies, which include skills like expertise, ethics, and eloquence, reflect the core qualities needed to succeed as a speaker. These competencies align with the NSA’s mission to elevate the speaking profession and ensure members deliver meaningful, ethical, and high-quality presentations. They guide speakers in developing both their craft and their business acumen.
For the National Speakers Association’s Thrive 2025 workshop, I developed a branding identity deeply rooted in the concept of growth and flourishing. With the event scheduled for March—a season of renewal and transformation—the design reflects the core themes of personal and professional development, symbolizing the process of thriving after a period of dormancy.
Public Speaking has long been seen as a way for people to gain confidence, and to be able to communicate with anyone and everyone. This confidence is something that can only be built with two things: Preparation and Experience.
Preparation means being an expert on the topics you speak about, understanding and defining your mission, and knowing your process from top to bottom.
Experience means understanding that nothing replaces action, being comfortable with being uncomfortable, and expanding your horizons

Thrive 2025 is all about empowering speakers to grow their influence, and the branding embodies this mission. The Thrive effect, as shared by past participants, speaks to the real-world impact the workshop has had on businesses. This powerful messaging, paired with the vibrant and symbolic design, conveys a workshop where growth, flourishing, and personal reinvention are inevitable outcomes.
The visual language centers around natural growth, drawing on vibrant, lush greens like Forest Green and Neon Green that evoke the renewal of life in spring. Paired with calming yet dynamic blues like Ocean Blue and Deep Blue, the palette speaks to both the vitality of networking opportunities and the stability of professional relationships fostered at Thrive. These colors evoke a sense of fresh energy and deep connection, aligning perfectly with the workshop’s promise to help participants grow their speaking careers and business strategies.
The Futura PT and Paralucent fonts used throughout the branding are modern, clean, and bold, symbolizing clarity of communication—vital for professional speakers. The typeface's strength and precision reflect the authority and expertise that Thrive helps its attendees build, while maintaining an approachable, dynamic energy.
The combination of strong visuals and powerful, motivational text elements—such as the event’s slogan “Innovate · Connect · Thrive”—creates a sense of forward momentum. Key graphical elements, including banners and logos, incorporate this growth-centric theme, ensuring that every visual touchpoint reinforces the message of thriving through innovation and connection.
